Different verses of the Holy Quran, have been revealed in the occasions of revelation (asbāb al-nuzūl); and each portion for specific "addressees"; Therefore, it is necessary to discover the meaning of the verses based on their occasions of revelation and considering different types of audiences. For this purpose, the present article studies the mechanism of addressing and signification in the Quran, using the approach of "applied semantics" and "linguistic signification". Therefore, to understand a portion of revelation, it is worth considering factors such as the "speaker" and the "orator" of the Quran, and its "audiences"; also observing the role of "specific" and "general" addresses. The present article shows that: 1. the verses of the Quran have different levels of meaning and, 2. the audiences of it include different types; In other words, each portion of the Quran has been created based on the understanding of its audiences. Therefore, not everyone except the "true scholars of the Quran" can comprehend the exact meaning of all the verses of the Quran. Finally, it proves the necessity of referring to the "scholars of the Quran" (the Holy Prophet and the Ahl al-Bayt PBUT) for the specific and general audiences of the Quran.
